Frequently Asked Questions – stevia FAQ

Why do you add erythritol to Steviva Blend and MonkSweet+
Erythritol is an excellent, versatile tool in the world of healthy alternative sweeteners.  It works well to enhance the flavors of other sweeteners it is paired with, and provides added volume to high intensity sweeteners, making it a more suitable plug-in replacement for table sugar in recipes.  Because stevia and monk fruit are so extremely concentrated (200- 300 times sweeter than sugar), it is very difficult to get the tiny amount used in a baking recipe to thoroughly disperse throughout the mixture.  Erythritol provides that extra volume, while at the same time enhancing the overall flavor of the mixture.

Where does your erythritol come from? China?
Our Non-GMO erythritol is manufactured for us in Markelsheim France under strict European Standards. We prefer it for it's clean delicious flavor, and because it is "really" Non-GMO.

We are pleased to offer it as an alternative to most other erythritol on the market, which is typically produced in Asia. Please let us know if you have further questions. At Steviva Brands we are committed to helping educate consumers on the wide array of options available in the new generation of healthy sweeteners on the market.

With regarding to cooking and baking with any of our stevia blend sweeteners such as  Steviva Blend, MonkSweet+, Fructevia and more. These blend are twice as sweet as sugar so you would add half as much.

When baking with pure Steviva Brand Stevia Powder we suggest you mix 1/8 of a teaspoon with 1 cup of unsweetened apple sauce. Because stevia is 250 times sweeter than sugar you lose a lot of volume from replacing the sugar.

When recipes ask for brown sugar you can use an equal amount of of any of our stevia blend with 2 tablespoons of molasses added. A better solution is to simply user CocoSweet+ as a one for one, low glycemic replacement for light brown sugar.

If you are not using the blend and need a brown sugar substitute then you can use 1 cup of unsweetened apple sauce 1/8 of a teaspoon of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder and 2 tablespoons of molasses.
