How Lifestyle and Daily Routine Affect Blood Sugar

You can keep your blood sugar within target range and prevent diabetes complications, hypoglycemia and lose the desired weight by knowing what makes your blood sugar rise and fall.

Take a look at the day-to-day factors that can cause your blood sugar to rise and fall. Then find out how to cope with them.

You are watching blood sugar levels, so you probably know that food is a major culprit in altering these levels. Your blood sugar is at its highest an hour or two after you eat, and then it starts to fall. What you eat, how much you eat and when you eat all affect blood sugar.

Some issues to consider:

  • Consistency. Strive for consistency from day to day in the time and amount of food you eat. By controlling these factors, you can better control when your blood sugar rises and even how high it rises.
  • Type of food. Food is made up of carbohydrates, protein and fat. Although all three can increase blood sugar, carbohydrates have the biggest impact.

All Natural Sugar Free Low Carb Apple Cinnamon Muffins
Serves: 6
Carbs Per Serving: 11g
Calories Per Serving: 180g

Protein Per Serving: 4g

Fats Per Serving: 6g

Prep Time:<25 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Ingredients:
1-1/4 cup oat bran cereal; uncooked
1 cup soy, rye or whole wheat (higher carb) flour
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup apple, peeled, cored, diced
1/2 cup Steviva Brand Stevia Blend or 1/16 of a teaspoon Steviva Brand Stevia Powder
1/2 cup olive oil
1 egg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375.
Coat 12 medium-size cups with vegetables oil or line with paper baking cups.
In a medium bowl combine oat bran cereal, flour, cinnamon, baking powder, soda, and salt.
In large bowl combine applesauce, honey, oil, egg, and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients; mix well. Stir in apple.
Fill prepared muffin cup almost full. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
