I have always lived by the philosophy of “when life hands me lemons I will make lemonade”. Sometimes this is easier said than done. So, how do we take these lemons and make a delicious drink? How do we see the glass as half full as opposed to half empty? It involves invoking the power of positive thinking and not being overly attached to the outcome as much as we are to the process.
Whenever you encounter a potentially negative situation try re framing the situation towards the positive. Spend sometime incorporating positive thinking into your general perspective. Is wishing, hoping and positive thinking just magic or does it really work? Depak Chopra has proven that quantum healing does work to the satisfaction of the American Medical Association. Just think... if I were just more positive, had faith in myself, how much better my life might be?
Psychologists foolishly warn against wishing and positive thinking techniques, saying it's childlike and delusional. Yet they make a big point about re framing. It is the same thing, take any situation, and visualize how could it better? Then focus on it, imagine every detail and practice overcoming whatever obstacles stand in the way of turing the situation to a positive. I am not suggesting that you avoid reality, but instead I ask that you envision how you could fashion your life into the most positive possible outcome.

You've probably seen people in the park, moving very slowly and rhythmically while concentrating deeply. Chances are, they were doing tai chi. Tai chi chuan (usually abbreviated to tai chi) is a centuries-old Chinese discipline or moving meditation that increases the flow of chi, or life force, by moving energy through the body. It is a series of bending, stretching, twisting and breathing exercises that uses both movement and stillness to create body awareness and regulate internal energy. It's a great way to simultaneously relax and sharpen your focus, and when performed regularly, it can put the fire back in your eyes.
"The internal balance, calmness, and concentration for the mind, body and spirit that can be achieved through the study and practice of tai chi are so profound that there are truly no limits to the benefits," explains Sifu Ron Statler, an instructor at The Chinese Wushu Research Institute. And though tai chi does benefit everyone, since it's low-impact and low-intensity it's especially good for older adults or people recovering from injuries. Tai chi will help increase your balance, relieve stress and improve concentration, circulation and posture, as well as create an overall sense of well-being. According to Richard Jesaitis, who has been teaching tai chi for 20 years, tai chi "makes people healthy and happy, and those who become very skilled are fiery and bright."
There are different types of tai chi, based on the family from which each originated. Tai chi exercises consist of a set of forms, a series of positions that are strung together in one continuous movement. Forms vary - a single form can contain up to 100 positions and could take as long as 20 minutes to complete. The average form takes about seven to 10 minutes. The forms included in our workout can take anywhere from five to 10 minutes each and they shouldn't be rushed.
Tai chi can be done anytime or anywhere, but it's recommended that you practice outside if possible, and at the same time every day for maximum benefits. The goal is to achieve a balanced stillness in the mind while moving the body in fluid, coordinated movements.

Low Glycemic No Added Sugar Carrot Cake
Makes approximately 12 servings
1 cup sifted soy, rye or low carb flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup polyunsaturated oil or butter
1/3 cup undiluted orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup Fructevia, Steviva Brand Stevia Blend or 1/8 teaspoon Steviva Brand Stevia Powder
1 teaspoon allspice
1 cup grated raw carrots
Preheat oven to 350°F. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, beat egg or egg substitute, oil, orange juice concentrate, Fructevia, Steviva Brand Stevia Blend, and allspice until well blended. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture alternately with carrots. Pour batter into an ungreased 8x8x2 inch baking pan and bake for 35 minutes. Allow to cool. Remove from pan and top of cake with sugar free cream cheese frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting
1 Cup Cream Cheese
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1/2 Cup Fructevia, Steviva Brand Stevia Blend or 1/16 teaspoon Steviva Brand Stevia Powder
Place all three ingredient in mixing bowl and mix by hand until cream cheese is soft and all ingredients are mixed together well.
