With Honesty Comes Personal Power
keep your word and your word becomes the universe

"Honesty is the ability to match up our insides with our outsides. It allows what we don't care about to go away and what we really want to appear and develop in our lives."

This may sound corny but, the other day I was watching an episode of "24", which is my favorite show incidentally. During the show Jack Bauer, the main character was negotiating with a suspect. The guy asked for his word. Jack replied "how do you know I just won't put a bullet in you later" and the suspect replied "because I know the value of your word". As campy as this may seem it really made me think about keeping ones word and further more the extreme power of honesty.

Getting honest and learning to live openly with ourselves and others is such a big part of spiritual growth, it becomes a general principle through constant application. Honesty and integrity tells us what to do in situations that may be turning points for us. By applying spiritual principles, like honesty, we automatically make ourselves as more trustworthy, a better friend and a reliable human being. Since like attracts like, we can be honest enough for it to become our normal thing to do: an acquired learning that becomes habitual. When this happens the world opens up to us.

As we come to realize that we are loved and respected for our honesty, we can come to other truths about ourselves. Dishonesty gives others power over us. Honesty allows us to increase our personal freedom.

Honesty, as a principle, tells us to turn away from lies and falsehoods; to turn towards reality and get used to using the new power spiritual growth brings. If we honestly don't like our jobs, we change jobs. If we have amends we need to make, we become willing and make them. If we're not happy in our associations or relationships, we use the power of spiritual connection and find a way to become happy.

Awareness in itself is not honesty, but it is a prerequisite. As we slowly become aware of our actions and feelings and their consequences, we need to be honest about our motivations. We can fool others, but we can't afford to fool ourselves. As we become more aware of our actions, we begin to realize that self-awareness is indeed the key to our personal growth.

Abraham Lincoln was said to walk back several miles to a store when he noticed he had been given one penny too much in change. That was a sense of being honest and not taking what doesn't belong to you. When Lincoln returned the overpaid penny, he probably received thanks from the store owner but the real reward came in the sense of satisfaction he had in being honest. And the rest they say is "history".

Have an excellent day!

Difficulty Spawns Opportunity
Max Steingart

Successful people don't achieve their distinction by having some new talent or opportunity presented to them. They developed an opportunity that was at hand.

You'll find that every situation, properly perceived, offers you an opportunity.
As fast as each opportunity presents itself, use it. No matter how tiny an opportunity may be, use it.

Every problem has hidden in it an opportunity so powerful that it literally dwarfs the problem. The greatest success stories were created by people who recognized a problem and turned it into an opportunity.

You'll find new directions when you have an open mind and a willing hand. You must make your own opportunity if you want to be successful.

Looking for Trouble
special problem zones for women

“The more muscle you pack on your frame, the faster your metabolism will be and the slimmer you'll be. ”

by Rita Trieger

Ask any woman what her biggest trouble spot is and she'll either mention her upper arms, lower stomach, or the entire hip-thigh-butt area. But it's really not our fault. Women are genetically programmed to store fat in these areas just like men get "love handles." When you factor in the passage of time, you begin to notice that skin loses elasticity, which can make troublesome areas look, well, even more troublesome! This is a war of attrition; if you turn your back on the problem, it's only going to get worse. To combat creeping obesity, a woman needs to maintain an exercise routine that builds muscle and burns calories.

We asked personal trainer Bob Shaw, owner of Physical Structure Personal Training in New York City, for some workout suggestions. If you need to lose 10 pounds or more, Bob recommends at least 45 minutes of intense aerobic training (running, walking, biking) four to five times a week, and strength training two to three times a week. You may also need to modify your diet, but make sure it's nutritionally sound - if you starve yourself you won't have enough energy to get through an ambitious workout schedule. Remember: the more muscle you pack on your frame, the faster your metabolism will be - and the slimmer you'll be - since muscle tissue burns increased calories even at rest.

So never give up or give in to time - you can age gracefully! Just follow the link below and try this specially designed workout that targets the troublesome triceps, lower abdomen and the hip-thigh-butt areas. Add it to your exercise routine and you'll start to see results in just a few weeks.

Drinking iced tea or coffee may seem like a great way to quench your summertime thirst but these beverages may end up doing just the opposite. Both act as diuretics and can cause dehydration, especially if you've been perspiring. A better choice is a tall, frosty glass of lemonade or any fresh fruit juice poured over ice - you'll get extra vitamins too. What I suggest is adding the juice of half a lemon to 32 ounces of water with a sprinkle of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder . Aside from being less than 2 carbs, you will get the health benefits that the stevia provides along with the vitamin C and electrolytes that lemon have. You can substitute limes for lemons if you get bored. Click here to order stevia powder.

Now, starting working out.

Feeling Trapped? Slow down!

“If you're having difficulty coming up with new ideas, then slow down. For me, slowing down has been a tremendous source of creativity. It has allowed me to open up -- to know that there's life under the earth and that I have to let it come through me in a new way. Creativity exists in the present moment. You can't find it anywhere else.”

-- Natalie Goldberg

Feeling trapped in some way? Give yourself space. Space to do nothing but breathe. To intentionally relax those tight muscles. To just for a few precious minutes, let it all go.

The world will keep turning if you tune out for a short while. And your world will begin to recover its balance.

“It's important to be heroic, ambitious, productive, efficient, creative, and progressive, but these qualities don't necessarily nurture soul. The soul has different concerns, of equal value: downtime for reflection, conversation, and reverie; beauty that is captivating and pleasuring; relatedness to the environs and to people; and any animal’s rhythm of rest and activity.”

-- Thomas Moore
