Drink Your Food and Eat Your Drink
“The faster you eat, the more likely you are to overeat.”

Gandhi once said that "we should drink our food and eat our drink". What he was saying is take time and chew your food and take small sips of water. In general, people tend to eat too much, too fast and for all the wrong reasons. You won't get sunk by bad eating habits if you take the time to understand what you're doing wrong. It takes time for the body to tell the brain that it 's full. So the faster you eat, the less likely you are to feel satiated, and the more likely you are to overeat. Slowing down and learning to pace yourself, will almost certainly result in fewer calories being consumed, says Edward Abramson, Ph.D., professor of psychology at California State University in Chico, and author of To Have and to Hold: How to Take off the Weight When Marriage Puts on the Pounds (Kensington Books, 1999).

Smart strategy:

  1. If you're eating because you're ravenously hungry, drink a glass of water before you start to eat," advises Joy Bauer, MS., RD.,CDN., from Joy Bauer Nutrition in New York City. If you're simply a gobbler, gulp a beverage in between every bite and chew.
  2. Dim the lights, put on some slow music, light some candles and make your meal a sensuous event that stretches over a few hours.
  3. Put down your fork from time to time and take a minute or two before you start eating again.
  4. Make your meals a fun occasion, something you look forward to enjoying leisurely. Perhaps look to the dinner hour as a time to sit down with the family and catch up on the day's events. Having a conversation or telling a funny story will force you to slow down.

Good food for thought!

Don't forget to drink plenty of water! What I suggest is adding the juice of half a lemon or 4 tablespoons of unsweetened cranberry juice to 32 ounces of water with a sprinkle of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder . Aside from being less than 2 carbs, you will get the health benefits that the stevia provides along with the vitamin C and electrolytes that lemon have. You can substitute limes for lemons if you get bored. Click here to order stevia powder.

Have an excellent day.

YOUR MIND

Accepting Change With A Smile
Max Steingart

Sooner or later a crisis will enter your life, and how you meet it determines your future happiness and success.

Since the beginning of time, everyone has been called upon to meet such a crisis.

A closer look will show you that most "crisis situations" are opportunities to either advance or stay where you are.

Indeed, most changes in your life will take place out of either 'inspiration' or 'desperation.'

Whatever comes your way, give it meaning and transform it into something of value.

Your personal growth is the process of responding positively to change.

A precious stone cannot be polished without friction, nor humanity perfected without trials.

YOUR BODY

H2O Oh! Yeah?

As temperatures peak it is critical to you health that you keep yourself hydrated. Here's one way to find out if you're well hydrated. The more you drink, the more urine you'll void. If it comes out clear or pale yellow and your doctor has given you a clean bill of health, you're well hydrated. Bright yellow is a sign that you're taking certain vitamin supplements. If it's dark yellow and output is reduced, you have symptoms of mild dehydration, a result of your kidneys releasing residue while trying to conserve water.

That's one reason to eat more fruits and vegetables - a lot of them are loaded with grams of water. (About 240 grams equal one cup.)

Besides the vitamins and fiber, fruits and vegetables have more water to help you stay well hydrated in the brutal heat. Drinking more water or eating fruit filled with water is always a good idea.

The mantra used to be eight glasses a day, but it varies.

Six to eight is a good idea, but if you're working hard in the heat or taking medications that can cause dehydration, you'll need more.

Avoid soft drinks, which are high in empty calories. As for designer water, if it has a flavor that you like, drink up. If it gets you to drink more, go for it. If you don't mind spending the money, go for it. It's about taste and what you find appealing.

Drinking 64 ounces of water everyday will keep you healthy. While it may sound like an easy task, it can get a little boring. What I suggest is adding the juice of half a lemon to 32 ounces of water with a sprinkle of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder . Aside from being less than 2 carbs, you will get the health benefits that the stevia provides along with the vitamin C and electrolytes that lemon have. You can substitute limes for lemons if you get bored. Click here to order stevia powder. Now, start splashing.

YOUR SPIRIT

Connecting With The Soul

"We all seek Soul. While Soul is always present, it doesn’t appear in our lives automatically. Soul requires our attention and reflection. Offering our respectful regard to the Soul is a way of loving it, caring for it, nurturing it." -- Benjamin Shield and Richard Carlson

How do we experience soul in our lives?

It’s so simple! STOP AND PAY ATTENTION! Soul lives in connection. Whenever we are present and conscious, soul emerges.

To easily experience soul, find something you love to do and immerse yourself in it. Consciously savour a favorite piece of music. Consciously enjoy a walk in nature. Really experience your breathing and the pounding of your heart as you exercise. Really be present to your partner, your kids, your pet or another, and you will know the contentment of soul.

"I think that whenever soul is present, it’s because what you’re doing, whom you’re with, where you are, evokes love without your thinking about it. You are totally absorbed in the place or person or event, without ego and without judgment." -- Jean Shinoda Bolen
