Make Your Holiday Diet Effective

With the season to celebrate right around the corner everyone is wondering how to stick to holiday diet. When everywhere you look there are treats, desserts and food galore, how is it possible not to overeat? Sticking to holiday diet won’t be the easiest thing to do but remember in the long run, this will all be worth it.

Knowing how to stick with holiday diet can give you the extra boost of confidence that you need to make it through all of the parties and get-togethers without overeating.

You will need:

•a dish to share with everyone

•a glass of water•gum/mints

•a full stomach

1.Plan ahead. If you know that you are headed for a party or get together that is going to have a lot of food that you just don’t want to be tempted by eat before you go. Make sure that you are full before you even walk through the doors. It is hard to stick to holiday diet when you are hungry and surrounded by incredible food.

2.Keep a glass of water in your hand as you mingle. If you get the urge to head over to the table to check out all of the delicious dishes turn around and have a sip of water. If everyone else is having an alcoholic beverage and sticking to holiday diet doesn’t allow the extra calories, consider finding an alternative with less calories or disguise your regular drink in a cup that looks like it could be the real stuff. This will keep people from asking, “Why aren’t you drinking?”

3.Bring some gum. If you are already full you don’t need to eat anymore. Of course your body could be telling you something different. Bring some gum to give your mouth something to do. If you aren’t a gum chewer, even a mint or some type of sugarless candy may help you to feel like you don’t need the food in front of you and keep you sticking to holiday diet.

4.Bring a dish. Many parties offer the chance to bring a dish to share with everyone. Choose something that you enjoy that fits in with you holiday diet. That way, no matter what, you know that there is going to be something at the party that you really like that you can eat.

5.Give yourself a little room to slip up. You don’t want to completely give up on sticking to holiday diet, but you have to know there there are going to be things out there that are only available once or twice a year. In these instances, don’t let a little failure turn into something over the top. Having a dessert at a party or having an extra helping of turkey isn’t the end of the world. Don’t think that this mistake means that your holiday diet isn’t working.

Knowing how to stick with holiday diet can give you the extra boost of confidence that you need to make it through all of the parties and get-togethers without overeating.
