the correlation between your car and body

Dr_Alisha_MoadabWhen do people most often go to the doctor? Often when you're sick or broken down right? When do we take our cars in? Usually, it is a few times a year for oil changes and maintenance. Perhaps you have already heard the saying, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” If we are waiting for the oil in the tank to go dry before we take the car in, we will be faced with a more expensive and complicated problem, v.s. the simple routine oil change, that will keep things running smoothly. Like the analogy or not, it demonstrates the need for people to take a proactive approach to their own health care.

Sadly, statistics tell us that much of the cause of bankruptcy in the U.S. is due to medical expenses. Prevent bankruptcy by preventing disease! Much can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. Now insurance companies are mandated to provide free health screenings to incentivize their clients to go to the doctor when they are well, for the simple routine check-ups, colonoscopies, mammograms, and more. Maybe you made excuses in the past, money, time, or didn't see the value of going in if you didn't have a problem, but as a holistic health care provider, I ask that you think differently, and focus on the prevention. Do your part, eat healthy, fruits, vegetables and protein and exercise regularly. When was your last blood work, do you know where your blood sugar levels and cholesterol are at? If the answer is, yes, good job! And if no, go get them tested so you know where you stand.

Naturopathic doctors (N.D's) can evaluate blood work from a functional perspective to not only decipher if you are heading into a disease range, but more importantly, are the levels optimal ? Are you getting the best bang for the buck, so to speak? We focus on educating their patients on how to get healthier and how to prevent the most common killers, heart disease and cancer, but obesity, diabetes, and Alzheimer's on the rise. Further, N.D.'s philosophy is to use nature's healing tools, as in nutraceuticals, botanicals and other non-invasive (or harmful) treatments to help correct health problems.

Take charge of your health, you only get this one body to live in, treat it well and it will reciprocate.
