Shedding Pounds and Getting Fit Takes Time
preventing disappointment when "slip" happens

Don't expect perfection as you work towards your goal of a healthy and fit lifestyle. Truth is, anyone trying to lose weight and get healthy is going to experience some off days.

It takes about 3,500 calories to gain a pound of weight, so an occasional slip won't completely wipe out your efforts. The bigger issue is an inability to cope with the slips.

Here are a few tips that may make those tough times a little easier:

  • Let go of perfectionist thinking. Accept that you may have a bad day and slip with your fitness and diet plan once in a while.
  • When you feel that your goals are just taking too much time, stop and think clearly about your healthiest options at that moment. And remember "Slip Happens".
  • Write out a plan on how you are going to get yourself back on track.
  • Do something positive. Go for a walk or get some other form of exercise, or eat something healthier than you had planned.

A bad day or two is fairly harmless. Just do whatever it takes to get back on track. And if it will make you feel better, plan the next day to include foods that are lower on the Glycemic Index to make up for the slip.

Low Glycemic Carb Low Sugar Vegan Raw Food Cookies
Serves: 24

The raw food diet is a craze right now. A raw food diet based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, grains, beans, nuts and dried fruit.

It is asserted that heating food above 110 degrees F is believed to destroy enzymes in food that can assist in the digestion and absorption of food. Cooking is also thought to diminish the nutritional value and "life force" of food.

My little sister, Jill who goes by Kin's, shared this recipe with me a while back and I made it yesterday and just pulled it out of the dehydrator this morning. These cookies were amazing and really good for you. I made a few tweaks to it but, I think it made them better. ;)

Ingredients:
2 cups Raw Cashews
1 cup Raw Almonds
1 cup Raw Walnuts
1 1/2 cups Unsweetened Shredded Coconut
a pinch of salt
1/8 cup Fructevia, Steviva Brand Stevia Blend or a dash to taste of
Steviva Brand Stevia Powder

Instructions:

Quantities can be fudged, this is a very forgiving recipe.

Make sure to buy 'raw' nuts and not roasted. If it doesn't say 'raw', it is roasted.

Soak nuts overnight by simply putting nuts in glass jars and fill to the top with water. Soaking releases enzymes.

Drain nuts and put them in a food processor. Blend thoroughly until it is smooth but not too smooth.

Put the nuts and the remaining ingredient in a bowl and mix thoroughly.
Form balls and shape into cookies.

Dehydrate at 105ish degrees (to maintain raw enzymes) for probably 24 hours or desired consistency. If you don't have a dehydrator no worries. Simple set your oven to warm with the door cracked.
