Skipping Meals Will Make You Fatter

A 2011 national survey from the Calorie Control Council revealed, 17 percent of Americans admitted to skipping meals to lose weight. The problem is, skipping meals actually increases your odds of obesity, especially when it comes to breakfast. A study from the American Journal of Epidemiology found that people who cut out the morning meal were 4.5 times more likely to be obese. Why? Skipping meals slows your metabolism and boosts your hunger. That puts your body in prime fat-storage mode and increases your odds of overeating at the next meal.

The battle of the bulge is really a matter of two things; portion control and quality of food. If you feed your body good quality foods such as leafy green vegetables and lean proteins you will find that you will be less hungry. Your body digests these foods slowly and you don't get a spike in blood sugar. High glycemic carbohydrates burn fast and create a spike. Stall away from foods like sugary soft drinks, starchy breads and sweet treats.

Breaking your meal up from three large meals in six smaller meal with ignite your metabolism and you will drop weight like magic. Always drink a full glass of water 10 minutes before your meal and you will be surprised how that will moderate your appetite. Lastly, graduate your meal portions at the day goes on. Remember, eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a peasant.

10 ounces milk or plain nut milk
1 tablespoon almond butter (or peanut butter if you prefer)
1 medium banana

Use 6 ice cubes for a thicker consistency.

Cool options:

Add 1 tablespoon of protein powder to kick up the protein.
