I have always lived by the philosophy of “when life hands me lemons I will make lemonade”. Sometimes this is easier said than done. So, how do we take these lemons and make a delicious drink? How do we see the glass as half full as opposed to half empty? It involves invoking the power of positive thinking and not being overly attached to the outcome as much as we are to the process.

Whenever you encounter a potentially negative situation try re framing the situation towards the positive. Spend sometime incorporating positive thinking into your general perspective. Is wishing, hoping and positive thinking just magic or does it really work? Deepak Chopra has proven that quantum healing does work to the satisfaction of the American Medical Association. Psychologists foolishly warn against wishing and positive thinking techniques, saying it's childlike and delusional. Yet they make a big point about re framing. It is the same thing, take any situation, and visualize how could it better? Then focus on it, imagine every detail and practice overcoming whatever obstacles stand in the way of turing the situation to a positive. I am not suggesting that you avoid reality, but instead I ask that you envision how you could fashion your life into the most positive possible outcome.

“Tai chi is low-impact, so it’s especially good for older adults or people recovering from injuries.”

You've probably seen people in the park, moving very slowly and rhythmically while concentrating deeply. Chances are, they were doing tai chi. Tai chi chuan (usually abbreviated to tai chi) is a centuries-old Chinese discipline or moving meditation that increases the flow of chi, or life force, by moving energy through the body. It is a series of bending, stretching, twisting and breathing exercises that uses both movement and stillness to create body awareness and regulate internal energy. It's a great way to simultaneously relax and sharpen your focus, and when performed regularly, it can put the fire back in your eyes.

"The internal balance, calmness, and concentration for the mind, body and spirit that can be achieved through the study and practice of tai chi are so profound that there are truly no limits to the benefits," explains Sifu Ron Statler, an instructor at The Chinese Wushu Research Institute. And though tai chi does benefit everyone, since it's low-impact and low-intensity it's especially good for older adults or people recovering from injuries. Tai chi will help increase your balance, relieve stress and improve concentration, circulation and posture, as well as create an overall sense of well-being. According to Richard Jesaitis, who has been teaching tai chi for 20 years, tai chi "makes people healthy and happy, and those who become very skilled are fiery and bright."

There are different types of tai chi, based on the family from which each originated. Tai chi exercises consist of a set of forms, a series of positions that are strung together in one continuous movement. Forms vary - a single form can contain up to 100 positions and could take as long as 20 minutes to complete. The average form takes about seven to 10 minutes. The forms included in our workout can take anywhere from five to 10 minutes each and they shouldn't be rushed.

Tai chi can be done anytime or anywhere, but it's recommended that you practice outside if possible, and at the same time every day for maximum benefits. The goal is to achieve a balanced stillness in the mind while moving the body in fluid, coordinated movements.

Sometimes we forget to take the time to recognize the richness that defines our lives. This can be a great experiment to undertake with your entire family or a classroom. If you own a car, relying on public transportation for even just a day can help you see the true value of the comfort and conveniences others do without. As you explore a life without things you may normally take for granted,! ask yourself for how long you could endure.

The compassionate gratitude that floods your heart when you come to fully realize your abundance may awaken pangs of guilt in your heart. Be aware, however, that the purpose of such an experiment is to open your heart further in gratitude and compassion. This awareness can help you attain a deeper level of gratitude that will allow you to savor and, above all, appreciate your life with renewed grace.

Sometimes just get this terrible hankering for barbecue. Nothing is better than a rack of ribs smothered in spicy and tangy barbecue sauce. The only problem with this is that most barbecue sauce contains twice as much sugar as ice cream and three times as much as soda. Wow! Talk about a blood sugar spike. Here's a killer and I mean killer Barbecue recipe that will knock your socks off and satisfy even the most discriminating barbecue pallet. And what's more is we have taken out most of the sugar will leaving the amazing taste. This recipe calls for ketchup as a base. 2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon table salt
2 cups reduced sugar ketchup
1/2 cup yellow or spicy mustard
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup dark molasses
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 cup Fructevia, Steviva Blend or 1/8 teaspoon Stevia
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons of tamarind paste
4 medium cloves of garlic, crushed or minced

Optional. If you just want more smoke flavor, you can add 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke.

In a small bowl, mix the chili powder, black pepper, and salt. In a large bowl, mix the ketchup, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire, lemon juice, molasses, hot sauce, tamarind paste and Fructevia, Steviva Blend or Stevia . Add the liquid smoke if your using this.

Over medium heat, warm the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onions and sauté until limp and translucent, about 5 minutes. Crush the garlic, add it, and cook for another minute. Add the dry spices and stir for about 2 minutes. Add the wet ingredients. Simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes with the lid off to thicken it a bit.

You can store this in the refrigerator for a month or two.
