Take A Day To Make A Better You
self improvement is the catalyst for greater happiness and success

Do you ever feel like you need a kick in the seat-of-the-pants [FIRST_NAME]? A push in the right direction? Perhaps you need a boost in morale or need an attitude adjustment. Try giving yourself a self-development day.

Benefits of a self-development day

  1. You can program yourself for optimism.
  2. You feel better, refreshed and ready to seize the rest of the day.
  3. Side-advantage: You knock out some minor tasks you’ve been procrastinating.
  4. You’ll be more organized for the days and weeks to come.

The way I’ve done this in the past is I’ve picked one or two self-development/motivational audio programs that I would listen to nonstop for a whole day. I put on some headphones and do some long-delayed cleaning and filing. At the end of a day like this, I am feeling much more positive, more organized and a lot more energized about how I am going to deal the rest of the week.

So why does this work so well? The simple reason is constant exposure. If you have ever attended an all-day program sponsored by Tony Robbins or a similar speaker, you probably felt pretty good about yourself and your future after the day was complete. Constant exposure to new motivational ideas prevent the little negative thoughts (gremlins) from taking hold so easily. For lack of a better word, it’s healthy brainwashing.

Best of all, this method is simple to do. Just pick a day, and choose a few self-development audio programs. Prepare some repetitive or routine work and get to listening. Don’t stop until the end of the day!

Here are some tips:

  1. Pick audio programs where you feel you’ll learn something or reinforce behaviors you want to preserve. My favorites are Tony Robbins and my friend Tom Bilyeu. Both of these guys give me a great lift!
  2. Make sure the day you choose is one where you can either be alone or where you can listen without people interrupting.
  3. Choose titles that can get you moving in new and better directions.
  4. Mentally approach your self-development day listening time with a sense that you will learn something.
  5. Set aside a full day, where you can do stuff like clear your desk, your office closet, dust, file…choose simple tasks such as organizing so you can focus on the audio messages.
  6. Also, keep the computer and TV OFF. This is self-development day, not surf day.
  7. It’s also not audio-book day, so don’t choose novels.
  8. If you find yourself bored with the message, keep the audios rolling. If your mind drifts, let it drift. Just keep it rolling. It’s likely the next chapter will snag you. If not, you are still getting something.

Some ideas for what to do while you listen can include filing and tossing out old papers. Remove all the books from your bookcase, dust them and put them back. Clean and arrange your desk drawers. If you typically take a break, this time take a break and go for a walk. Get moving!

A self-development day is an Investment in you.

This is self indulgent YOU time [FIRST_NAME], this is for your health and mental well-being. You will surely get many ideas during this day and will probably feel a great sense of motivation and drive when the day is over.

Have a sensational week!

All successful people became successful, because they gave some talent or ability in the service of others. You can contribute in some way to others, no matter how small your talent. You too, can become successful.

No one achieves success without being of service. Successful people don't use others, other people use the successful, for above all success is of service.

Everyone has to be someone to someone to be anyone. Service is the essence of success.

10 Keeping Energy Level High
avoiding energy zappers

Each and every one of us could use a little more energy. Here are 4 valuable tips to keep your energy levels tip top.

Cut the Sugar:
Sugar has a tendency to be a craving and a curse all at once. It tastes good going down and keeps you from feeling ‘up’. When you crave something sweet, its important to have something else ready and available to eat instead. Try to choose snacks that have a small amount of carbohydrates to give you a measurable amount of energy for your day like whole grain crackers and low-fat cheese, fresh fruit or a small box of raisins and low-fat cheese or plain, nonfat yogurt blended with fruit.

Watch The Coffee:
Caffeine is another substance that will give us the wake up call that we need, but leave us hanging later on. Try to choose the decaffeinated version of your favorite beverage like coffee, tea or cola and avoid using caffeine to help you stay awake; this will only throw off your natural sleep cycle and promote your low energy levels.

Keep Hydrated:
With our busy lifestyles, it is easy to forget to drink water throughout the day. We need water to flush out toxins, keep our energy levels elevated and to keep our tissues hydrated. It contains no calories, so you can drink as much of it as you want to, and if you need some variety, add a lemon or lime slice to it. You can also make homemade lemonade with lemon, water and
Fructevia, Steviva Blend or a dash Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder. Stevia anyone?

Keep Moving:
Whether or not you exercise consistently, the amount of exercise that you get (or don’t get) could be contributing to your lack of energy. While exercise energizes us physically, mentally and emotionally, we feel more sluggish without it. On the other hand, when we do exercise, it enhances our mood by releasing endorphins, a ‘feel good’ chemical that increases energy levels. Hopefully it will encourage us to exercise more…. but not too much. Over training will deplete your energy reserves, break down muscle and make you feel weaker instead of stronger. Exercising too much could suppress your immune system, which could increase your chances of a bacterial or viral invasion, making you more vulnerable to illness. So make sure that you stay in control of your workout sessions and the frequency of them.

When Our World Falls Apart
Clinging to the Core
by Madisyn Taylor

When external factors shift we have an opportunity to rediscover our core which is the only truly safe place to call home.

There are times when our whole world seems to be falling apart around us, and we are not sure what to hold onto anymore. Sometimes our relationships crumble and sometimes it’s our physical environment. At other times, we can’t put our finger on it, but we feel as if all the walls have fallen down around us and we are standing with nothing to lean on, exposed and vulnerable. These are the times in our lives when we are given an opportunity to see where we have established our sense of identity, safety, and well-being. And while it is perfectly natural and part of our process to locate our sense of self in externals, any time those external factors shift, we have an opportunity to rediscover and move closer to our core, which is the only truly safe place to call home.

The core of our being is not affected by the shifting winds of circumstance or subject to the cycles of change that govern physical reality. It is as steady and consistent as the sun, which is why the great mystics and mystical poets often reference the sun in their odes to the self. Like the sun, there are times when our core seems to be inaccessible to us, but this is just a misperception. We know that when the sun goes behind a cloud or sets for the night, it has not disappeared but is simply temporarily out of sight. In the same way, we can trust that our inner core is always shining brightly, even when we cannot quite see it.

We can cling to this core when things around us are falling apart, knowing that an inexhaustible light shines from within ourselves. Times of external darkness can be a great gift in that they provide an opportunity to remember this inner light that shines regardless of the circumstances of our lives. When our external lives begin to come back together, we are able to lean a bit more lightly on the structures we used to call home, knowing more clearly than ever that our true home is that bright sun shining in our core.

NEW No Added Sugar Ginger Switchel Recipe
Total Servings 4
Serving Size 1 cup
Carbs Per Serving: 1 g
Prep Time:<10 minutes
Skill Level: Easy

Are You Cool Enough to Drink Switchel? Perhaps better known by the name haymaker's punch, there are countless recipes for this deliciously refreshing drink. This vinegar-based drink essentially serves the same purpose as lemonade at a time when neither drinking water nor fresh lemons were easy to come by. It is an inexpensive and electrolyte filled way to get the benefits of apple cider vinegar (and much more tasty than undiluted vinegar!). So ask yourself, are you cool enough to drink switchel?

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons unfiltered apple cider vinegar.
2 tablespoons Nectevia, CocoSweet+, MonkSweet+, Fructevia, Steviva Blend (or even a tiny dash of stevia powder)
2-inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and finely minced
4 cups of water (or 2 cups water and 2 cups seltzer water if using)
½ of a fresh lime, juice and zest

Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a large jar, shake well and place in the refrigerator overnight.

To serve, pour over ice or add seltzer water if desired.

Enjoy!
