Maximizing Your Human Experience
enthuse yourself and enthuse those around you

"If you have zest and enthusiasm you attract zest and enthusiasm. Life does give back in kind."
Norman Vincent Peale

"The great accomplishments of man have resulted from the transmission of ideas of enthusiasm."
~ Thomas J. Watson

Enthusiasm first appeared in English in 1603 with the meaning "possession by a god." The source of the word is the Greek enthousiasmos, which ultimately comes from the adjective entheos, "having the god within". Enthusiasm clearly has every day connotations of being "inspired" or "excited". Enthusiasm is a good feeling! I would be willing to bet that most people if required to do a particular task, would (if they knew that they could) choose to it with enthusiasm.

Read this paragraph and then try the following. Close your eyes, go inside and just pay attention. Think of a task that has neutral connotations. Something you probably should do, but you can't honestly say you are fired up by it. If you are anything like me, that shouldn't be too hard! Now, draw your attention to the quality of enthusiasm, and notice how you would feel having introduced the quality of enthusiasm to this task.

Doesn't that feel better! People like enthusiasm. They like feeling enthusiastic, and they like people to feel enthusiastic around them.

"Enthusiasm glows, radiates, permeates and immediately captures everyone's interest." ~ Paul J. Meyer

Enthusiasm affects and infects communication in all directions. If you are explaining something to someone and they start to get enthusiastic about your ideas, then wow don't you start to feel good! Hey, you probably even decide that you really like that person. Here is a person who understands the important things, just like you!

"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come from miles to watch you burn."
John Wesley

Conversely, your enthusiasm is infectious. People want to be around people who make them feel good. We recognize, at a deep level, that we perform better and appreciate life more fully when we feel enthusiastic (just look back at the origins of the word).

Thank you for your patronage.

Have a sensational week ahead!

You Have the Power to Succeed
Max Steingart

Truth isn't a matter of your personal viewpoint. Learn to see things as they really are, not as you imagine they are.

Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or who says it. No matter what you believe, it never changes the facts. If they are there, the facts always speak for themselves.

The truth does not change because it is, or is not, believed by a majority of people. If sixty million people say a foolish thing, it's still a foolish thing.

The sky is no less blue because the blind man does not see it.

Breast Cancer Prevention Month
three actions to go beyond awareness

It's that time of year where we get out the pink as a way to bring awareness, but more importantly, prevention of breast cancer. One in eight women are diagnosed each year, and if caught early, have good outcomes of going into remission. Nationally, October is known for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. People are now mostly aware, but do they know how to prevent? Prevention still triumphs to be the best medicine! Here are three things that are not your normal prevention tips, (like keep a healthy weight, eat fruits and vegetables, don't use tobacco, limit your alcohol, and exercise)

1. Nourish Yourself!  Caregivers sadly are often the people who sacrifice to help others, however, there is a point, in which it hurts themselves. Be sure that you nourish yourself, by putting time in your daily or weekly schedule that is your “ me time”. Time that you do whatever brings your heart joy. This could be taking a relaxing bath, going into nature, taking a nap, reading for pleasure, etc. Recall when you are on an airplane, when the flight attendants are going over what to do if cabin pressure changes, you are to pull down and put on the oxygen mask. If you are next to one that needs help though, do you help them first, or yourself? The correct answer is yourself, if you are not your best you are useless to those around you.

2. Go Green to Clean! Cleaning products are notorious for being full of harmful chemicals, some known and others not. These toxins disrupt our hormones and can contribute to cancer. In 2010 Journal of Environmental Health, a study showed that women who used air freshener products, and mold/mildew cleaners that contained bleach had a drastically increased risk of breast cancer. Women who used the most amount of cleaning products were twice as likely to get the diagnosis. Going green to clean means buying and/or making your own non-toxic ingredients, think about vinegar, lemon, baking soda, etc as some of the basis for these do it yourself cleaners. 3. Blow Out the Candles! Did you know most candles can be made with lead wicks and are a big source of polluting indoor air? Further the wax for most major candle makers is made from paraffin which releases toxins like benzene and toluene when burned. If you are a candle lover, don't worry, there is still hope, choosing a candle made from beeswax or soy are the healthiest options. For fresher air, try putting a few drops of essential oil in a diffuser.

Be bold and take action steps to prevent breast cancer, while this things may not come easy, it is easier than dealing with a diagnosis that could be fatal. These words are not to scare you, but put into perspective of how a few more minutes or hours today and tomorrow, can add years to your life. Wear pink and correct people when they say “breast cancer awareness”, say we want to prevent!

Speak Kindly to Yourself

“What is this self inside us, this silent observer, Severe and speechless critic, who can terrorize us, And urge us on to futile activity, And in the end, judge us still more severely, For the errors into which his own reproaches drove us?”
-- T. S. Eliot

How do you talk to yourself?
Would you talk that way to anyone else?
Our thoughts create our reality.
How do you typically think about yourself?
Do you berate yourself for being stupid, sloppy, forgetful or insensitive?
Do you watch yourself with interest, respect and compassion?

Stay alert to your self-talk and let go of judgments that don’t serve you.

"Self-acceptance is my refusal to be in an adversarial relationship to myself."
-- Nathaniel Branden

Prep Time:<60 minutes
Skill Level: Easy

We all know we are no angels but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be entitled to Angel Food Cake! Since Steviva Brands products are now certified Kosher this is perfect for Passover.

½ cup tapioca flour or arrowroot
¼ cup cocoa
1 cup Fructevia, Steviva Blend or a dash Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder
10 egg whites
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon lemon juice

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Sift together tapioca flour or arrowroot, cocoa and half of the Fructevia, Steviva Blend or a tiny dash Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites on low speed, slowly adding salt and lemon juice. Increase the speed. As soon as whites reach the soft-peak stage, begin adding remaining Fructevia, Steviva Blend or a tiny dash to taste Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder, a little at a time. Beat until whites are glossy and stiff.

Sift dry ingredients ¼ at a time over the whites, folding them in after each addition.

Spoon batter into a 10-inch ungreased angel food cake tube pan with a removable bottom or a 10-inch bundt pan. (Do not use a pan with a no-stick surface and do not grease the pan.) Tap the pan once on the counter to help distribute batter.

Place pan on the middle rack in preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes. Edges will pull from the sides of the pan.

Place cake (still in the pan) upside down on a rack. Traditionally, the pan is inverted on the neck of a wine bottle or funnel to cool. After an hour or more remove from pan and enjoy.
