Breezing Through The Holidays with a Positive Mental Attitude
ho ho how a positive mental attitude can affect your health
and holiday

Hi [FIRST_NAME], nothing else contributes as much to one's sense of well being and health as a positive mental attitude especially during the holidays. A Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) can make a crucial difference to our lives. The difference between brooding over our problems and moving ahead; between living in the shadows and claiming a place in the sun, between wallowing in self-pity and helping others overcome.

In the sphere of health, nothing can contribute as much to a sense of well-being as a positive mental attitude. "I feel healthy, I feel happy, I feel terrific," is one of the slogans advocated by Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone in their influential best-seller Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude. They recommend one to develop the PMA philosophy. "Prepare for any possible emergency. Always have something to live for. Never abandon hope", are some of the principles.

"He has lost the will to fight, to live" is a statement one hears often. Sometimes, doctors are baffled. While one patient succumbs easily to a particular disease, another makes a miraculous recovery. The miracle is often effected through PMA. While Negative Mental Attitude (NMA) spells defeat and death, PMA represents life and achievement. It is the wonder drug that enables the severely disabled to participate in the Olympics, travel across the world and climb the Everest. Here is to your Positive Mental Attitude in the coming New Year... because Attitude Determines Altitude.

YOUR MIND

You Have The Power To Succeed
Max Steingart

Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility. Your life to a large extent is what you make of it. Nothing will happen by itself. It will all come your way once you understand that you have to make it come your way.

Choose the thoughts and actions that will lead you to success. Nobody can do it for you.
Only you can make it happen. You're the only one that has to live your life.

The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start on the road to success.

You have the power to succeed at anything. The power to fulfill your dreams is within you.

YOUR BODY

Festivities + Fun = Health + Happiness
three important ingredients in the formula of a quality life
by
Dr. Alisha Moadab, N.D.

It is the time of year when we are gathering with friends and family for different festivities intended to be full of fun, however they sometimes lead us to stress simultaneously. Stress is different for each person, but for everyone it can wreak havoc on your body, perceivable or not. It is difficult to define for this reason. [1]  Cortisol is a stress hormone secreted by your adrenal glands that sit on top of your kidneys and is responsible for a myriad of functions in your body. This can work for you or also against you, if not properly regulated. The effects of stress can be vast, 50 common signs and symptoms have been attributed to it and listed on http://www.stress.org/topic-effects.htm .

Here are 3 things to take into account as you frolic:

1. You become who you are around:  Are you spending time with people who are in good or poor health? Do they take care of themselves, such as eat healthy and exercise? There is a saying out there that you become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Take a few minutes to ponder this and write down what you want to become and who in your circle of influence has those attributes that you can emulate.

2. Family Fitness: Turn the flab into firm with family or friends by doing a jog before a big feast. Or, get a glow going in any form of fitness that the group enjoys, perhaps even dancing to holiday music. Have you heard that saying that a family that plays together stays together? Now more than ever is this important as obesity rates are on the rise and having a greater impact in children and adolescents with 17% of the U.S. being in this category. [2]

3. Charm and Chuckle: Being charming, is not just for princes! When we compliment or give other gifts in emotional or material form, like doing a “good deed”, we in turn receive in countless ways in our mind, body, and spirit. [3]  Tell your mom, sister, cousin or wife that she is beautiful, or conversely for the males that they are handsome. Being light hearted (less stress) can lead to better heart health, and heart disease is still the number one killer in the U.S., so we all need to protect our hearts. [4]  Last, but not least, put in a good movie, or tell some jokes for some laughter, as it is still referred to as the best medicine. [5]

YOUR SPIRIT

Finding Your Next Step in Life
The Most Fulfilling Road
by Madisyn Taylor

It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless that figuring out your next step becomes easy.

Our lives are made up of a complex network of pathways that we can use to move from one phase of life to the next. For some of us, our paths are wide, smooth, and clearly marked. Many people, however, find that they have a difficult time figuring out where they need to go next. Determining which “next step” will land you on the most direct route to fulfillment and the realization of your life purpose may not seem easy.

There are many ways to discover what the next step on your life path should be. If you are someone who seeks to satisfy your soul, it is vital that you make this inquiry. Often, your inner voice will counsel you that it’s time for a change, and it is very important to trust yourself because only you know what is best for you. Personal growth always results when you let yourself expand beyond the farthest borders of what your life has been so far. When figuring out what your next step will be, you may want to review your life experiences. The choices you’ve made and the dreams you’ve held onto can give you an idea of what you don’t want to do anymore and what you might like to do next. It is also a good idea to think about creative ways you can use your skills and satisfy your passions. Visualizing your perfect future and making a list of ways to manifest that future can help you choose a logical next step that’s in harmony with your desires. Meditation, journal writing, taking a class, and other creative activities may inspire you and provide insight regarding the next step in life that will bring you the most satisfaction.

It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless that figuring out your next step becomes easy. Beneath the fear and hesitation and uncertainty lies your inner knowing that always knows which step you need to take next. If you can allow the taking of your next step to be as easy as putting one foot in front of the next, you’ll notice that your next step is always the one that is right in front of you. All you have to do is put one foot forward and on the ground.

YOUR RECIPE

Low Sugar Christmas Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting
Serves: 60 cookies/5 dozen
Serving Size 1 cookie
Carbs Per Serving: 12 g
Prep Time:<45 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Christmas cookies are traditionally sugar cookies though other flavors may be used based on family traditions and individual preferences. Christmas cookies are cut into various shapes related to Christmas. Since the 1930s, children have left cookies and milk on a table for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, though many people simply consume the cookies themselves. But check this out... while seemingly harmless these cookies can be loaded with sugar leading to Santa's Type II diabetes and our big fat Santa like bellys. Here's a recipe that cuts out the sugar but leaves all the flavor of this Holiday favorite.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup NEW CocoSweet+, NEW MonkSweet+, Fructevia, Steviva Blend (or a tiny dash to taste of Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder or even 1/2 cup of Nectevia for extra moist cookies)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups whole grain unbleached flour or soy flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and NEW CocoSweet+, NEW MonkSweet+, Nectevia, Fructevia, Steviva Blend or a tiny dash to taste of Steviva Brands Pure Stevia Powder
until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely and then frost.
