The Power of Positive Affirmations and Self Talk
8 easy steps to giving yourself words of encouragement

First and foremost I would like to wish all you mothers out there a very happy Mothers Day. Without Mothers the world would be a very empty place.

I think we can all agree that the media and the world of current events can create a churning cesspool of toxic thoughts, suggestions and emotions. It’s a well-known fact that the negative statements that surround us can erode our sense of self-worth. Children tend to believe negative assessments of them from teachers and parents, and develop a compromised self-concept when criticized on a regular basis and adults can get this from the media, co-workers, employers and even spouses.

Research has uncovered that it’s necessary for the ratio of negative-to-positive comments be at least five to one for a relationship to be healthy and survive long-term. For these reasons, we’re taught not to let others put us down, but sometimes the person eroding our sense of self-worth and limiting our potential is us. Our self talk, or the words our inner dialogue uses when we think, can increase our stress levels, limit our potential, and color our experiences with a negative brushstroke.

Here are some valuable tips to help you turn self-sabotage into self-mastery:

  • Be your own best friend
Think of how you would treat your very very best fiend and than take this vision and apply it to how you treat yourself. A best friend would never hurt or insult you. Mirror this best friend behavior and apply it to how you dialog with yourself.
  • Treat yourself as you treat others
Observe how you treat others; how you talk, how you act and how you interact. Most people treat others with respect. This is how you should treat yourself. Don’t engage in negative self talk and thoughts. Be respectful of yourself.
  • Do something nice for yourself
Treat yourself to a massage, facial, shopping spree or whatever would bring you joy. Reward yourself regularly and convince yourself you deserve it,
  • Acknowledge your accomplishments
It can be so easy to focus on all the things you haven’t done or done wrong in your life but, what about all the good things you have done. Everybody has done something good in their life. If you can’t think of anything, than do something expectedly nice for somebody and then acknowledge this process.
  • Think it then ink it
Whether you carry a journal around with you and jot down negative comments when you think them, write a general summary of your thoughts at the end of the day, or just start writing about your feelings on a certain topic and later go back to analyze it for content, journaling can be an effective tool for examining your inner process.
  • Cancel the thought
As you notice yourself saying something negative in your mind, you can stop your thought mid-stream by saying to yourself “Stop”. Saying this aloud will be more powerful, and having to say it aloud will make you more aware of how many times you are stopping negative thoughts, and where.
  • Shift statements to questions
Self-limiting statements like “I can’t handle this!” or “This is impossible!” are particularly damaging because they increase your stress in a given situation and they stop you from searching for solutions. The next time you find yourself thinking something that limits the possibilities of a given situation, turn it into a question. Doesn’t “How can I handle this?” or “How is this possible?” sound more hopeful and open up your imagination to new possibilities?
  • Turn off the TV
With all the negativity in the media and amoral television programming it is easy to get swallowed up in a world of perpetual drama. Turn off the TV, go for a walk, read an uplifting book, meditate, spend time with your family. The television has nothing good to offer you except stress, violence and propaganda.

Now that you are armed with these 8 quick and easy steps, go out and practice it. Learn it, know it, live it.

Have an excellent day.

YOUR MIND

You Can When You Believe You Can...
Max Steingart

Don't be afraid of what life has to offer you. If you believe that life is worth living, your belief will help create the fact.

The barrier between you and success is not something that exists in the real world. It's simply composed of doubts about your ability. Your only limits to your realization of tomorrow will be your doubts of today.

Success is a state of mind. If you want to be successful, start thinking of yourself as successful.

You are what you believe yourself to be.

The Facts, Fiction and Solutions to Cellulite

In the war against Cellulite there are a lot of marketers making a myriad of promise. Let's sort the faction from fiction.

What we do know is:

You absolutely can't spot-reduce. All the sit-ups in the world won't get rid of flab around the abs, and all the lunges and leg lifts in the world won't get rid of flab around the thighs. Does that mean you shouldn't do those exercises? Not at all. It just means you can't expect exercising the problem area to remove the fat around it.

Genetics do have a great influence on the way fat is distributed on your body. Your heritage isn't your destiny, but knowing what your tendencies are with regard to storing weight and building muscle can help you a lot in planning a diet and exercise regimen.

Cellulite is fat that has been trapped in fibrous pockets close to the skin. Like water in very shallow shaded creeks, it tends to stay put even when the rest of the river is drying up. Some people have put forth the theory that cellulite is a particular "kind" of fat, with a higher level of toxins stored in it, but this is pure armchair speculation.

How can you actually have a lump of fat on the outside of your thighs when you're thin all over? You just can. During the New York City Marathon, a number of female runners who were making pretty darn good times still had "jiggly thighs." If you're "programmed" to store it there, it's very, very difficult to get it off, even if it's come off everywhere else.

Here are a few solutions in your fight against Cellulite:

I think we can reasonably assume that many processes in the body, including fat breakdown and detoxification, could be slowed down or otherwise interfered with by food sensitivities, food allergies, improper digestion and absorption, or a poor diet. Why not give the caveman approach to eating a chance? Try eliminating as much of the modern-day processed and manufactured food products from your diet as possible. In my opinion, the best thing you can do for stubborn pockets of fat is to eat a diet free of possible allergens, processed and refined foods, sugar and other problem food products. You might even try temporarily removing some of the more "recent" arrivals on the nutritional evolution scene like wheat and dairy just to see what happens. But, most importantly dramatically increase your water intake to at least 4 quart. This will help wash out the fat and toxins. Drinking this much water can get a little boring. What I suggest is adding the juice of half a lemon or 4 tablespoons of unsweetened cranberry juice to 32 ounces of water with a sprinkle of Steviva Brand Stevia Powder . Aside from being less than 2 carbs, you will get the health benefits that the stevia provides along with the vitamin C and electrolytes that lemon have. You can substitute limes for lemons if you get bored. Click here to order stevia powder.

YOUR SPIRIT

Problems or Solutions?

"If you expect the best, you will be the best. Learn to use one of the most powerful laws in this world; change your mental habits to belief instead of disbelief. Learn to expect, not to doubt. In so doing, you bring everything into the realm of possibility."

-- Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Stop and be aware! Have you been thinking about what you want or what you don’t want?

It’s so easy to lock our minds onto problems rather than opening to receive solutions. But what we think is what we get. This is so important! If we continually focus on problems and negatives, that’s where we’ll stay.

"No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit."

-- Helen Keller
