Great Low-Carb Sugar Free Drink Ideas


Ok, so you have come to a point in your day when it is time to chill out and quench your thirst. But, what are your options? A cold soft drink? A nice Vente Latte with Hazelnut syrup? Not so fast, if you are trying to stay off sugar and watch your carbs. You may think those beverages are harmless. But guess again. To guide you down the path to beverages that won’t throw you off your fitness track here are a few delicious, low-carb and sugar free substitutes:

1. The high-carb high sugar culprit: Lemonade. Most people don’t realize that a glass of Lemonade has more sugar that a can of Coke.

The low-carb sugar free substitute: Try making your own lemonade using stevia. Here’s a good recipe. Take ½ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 4 lemons), 12 cups cold water, and 1/4 teaspoon of SteviaSweet Pure Stevia Powder. Mix all ingredients together in a large jar or pitcher. Chill. Serve over ice. Add mint leaves or orange slices for garnish if desired. For an interesting twist add a 1/4 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice.

2. The high-carb high sugar culprit: The standard coffee house beverage. Yes, we know, there’s a Starbucks or other coffee house on every corner these days. And who orders just a plain ol’ coffee anymore? Flavored coffees with chocolate and syrups are the typical order of the day, and ahhhh, those irresistible fragrances. Skip it (and save your money). The low-carb sugar free substitute: Tasty Hot Chocolate is just a moment away when you add 1 teaspoon cocoa powder and 2 teaspoon Steviva Blend Fine Powder with 8 oz hot water and 1 teaspoon instant coffee. Ymmmm…. so tasty yet sugar free and of course carb free.

4. The high-carb culprit: Margarita. So you are looking to take it up a notch or looking to blow off a stressful day. Before you dive into the Margaritas let me remind you that you are about to take in 200 calories and around 22 grams of sugar. That should kill your buzz.

The low-carb substitute: How about a Vodka Lime and Soda instead. It has under 100 calories and 4 grams of sugar. Simply mix 1 1/2 oz Vodka, with 1 1/2 oz lime juice with 1 teaspoon of Steviva Blend Fine Powder. Then take a handful ice cubes with 5 oz Club Soda and enjoy. It is both refreshing and satisfying.
