Apple Pie (Low Glycemic & No Added Sugar)

Have you ever heard the saying, "Nothing beats a warm apple pie!"? This recipe is no exception to that saying! This no added sugar apple pie will warm you heart as much as your stomach.

Recipe Notes: If crust seems to be browning too quickly, reduce the  heat to 325ºF degrees.

For Filling:
 3 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
 1 cup Fructevia or Steviva Blend (or 1/8 teaspoon SteviaSweet!)
 1 cup unsweetened apple sauce.
 1.50 tsp ground cinnamon
 0.50 tsp ground nutmeg
 2 tbsp whole grain flour
 1 tbsp butter (cut in to small pieces for pie crust)

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Combine sliced apples, Fructevia, Steviva Blend or (Steviva Stevia Powder applesauce blend) spices, and flour.

Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom crust.

Spoon the fruit filling into the prepared crust, then dot with butter

Top with the remaining pie crust, leaving a slight overhang.

Crimp the edges of the top and bottom crusts together, sealing the fruit into the shell.

Whisk the egg yolk and milk together, and brush this wash over the top crust.

With a sharp knife, make several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the apples are tender. Let cool and enjoy!
